ADMIRALTY CHRONICLE 15-B / SECTION 4 — TH' DAILY DECISION

Claim vs Quit

Overview

Every staked Deckhand eventually reaches th' minimum accrual threshold, at which point two options become available: CLAIM or QUIT. They be mutually exclusive an' their expected values be equal. Th' variance be not.

Claim Mechanics

CLAIM requires at least 2000 WAGE accrued. 20% o' th' accrued amount routes to th' staked-Privateer tribute pool; th' remainder credits th' Deckhand owner. Th' Deckhand remains staked an' its accrued balance resets to zero.

Quit Mechanics

QUIT be a single coin flip. 50% chance th' full accrual be seized to th' Privateer tribute pool an' th' Deckhand unstaked. Th' complementary chance returns th' full accrual to th' Deckhand owner an' unstakes th' Deckhand. Either way, th' Deckhand be no longer staked at th' end.

Expected Value

At th' seeded defaults (20% tribute, 50% seizure) th' expected WAGE kept be identical fer CLAIM an' QUIT. Th' variance be th' product.

Accrued CLAIM Keep QUIT Expected
2000 1600 1000
5000 4000 2500
10000 8000 5000
25000 20000 12500

Worst Case

A QUIT at maximum accrual lost on th' flip be th' steepest single loss available in th' game. A CLAIM at minimum accrual be th' smallest possible tribute exposure. Plan accordingly.

When to Quit

QUIT be th' only path to unstake a Deckhand that has accrued WAGE without first reducin' th' balance to zero via CLAIM. If ye want to unstake, ye must accept th' variance.

Tribute Implications

Both th' CLAIM tribute an' th' seizure amount be distributed to staked Privateers by rank-weight share. If no Privateers be staked at HQ when a payout fires, that payout burns instead o' reachin' a Privateer.
